Week 6 Assignment – VC Pitch Deck, Part 1
Overview
In this assignment, you will create the first several slides of a presentation called a pitch deck. In the pitch deck, you present your business idea or innovation to seek a financial investment. Imagine that your audience is made up of a venture capital (VC) firm or executives in a firm where you work. The success of your startup business depends on getting financial support, so give it your all to get your pitch deck off to a strong start in this assignment!
Instructions
Download the template, VC Pitch Deck, Part 1 [PPTX] Download VC Pitch Deck, Part 1 [PPTX], and use it to complete the assignment. Each slide has a title, which is identified by the number in the instructions. Include all the requirements listed in the instructions on your slide. Limit your presentation to the seven slides included in the template. You may reformat the slides to add visual appeal, or you may use them as-is. Look in Resources for help with slide format.
- Executive Summary. You will start the executive summary for this assignment and complete it in Week 10. For this week, complete the What We Do part of the slide. Do not complete the other parts of this slide yet. Under what we do, add the following in complete sentences:
- Company name.
- Product or service.
- Industry in which you compete (Find a list of industries at this link: Industries at a GlanceLinks to an external site.).
- Problem. Describe the problem addressed by your product, service, or idea including customer experience and existing solutions. This includes:
- A problem statement that tells exactly what the issue is for the customer.
- How the customer selects or interacts with the product or service
- The negative customer experience.
- Existing solutions to the problem.
- Solution. Summarize the key features and benefits of the product, service, or idea and how they address the problem. This includes:
- Summary statement of the solution (product or service) to the problem. May include why you started or want to start your business. It is the answer to the problem listed in the previous slide.
- Description of how your product or service is better than existing solutions.
- Actions customers will take to use the solution. Actions customers will take as a solution.
- Positive outcomes for customer experience.
- A picture or other representation of the product.
- The Team. Describe the roles, experience, and education of the key players on the team that are needed to run your business.
- Organization Design. Describe the desired organizational culture and an organizational structure that aligns with it. Provide enough information about both culture and structure to show that they are aligned with each other. Examples of organizational structure include naming functional areas of the business, describing the degree of hierarchy or flatness, or other relevant information about organization design.
- People Management Strategies. Outline strategies to encourage desired employee behavior that achieves organizational goals. Strategies are actions by the business. For each strategy, name the desired employee behavior (for example, high performance, customer focus, or other) or organizational goal (for example, innovation, customer-centric environment, or other).
- References. Use at least two credible, relevant, and appropriate sources to support your writing. Cite each source listed on your References slide at least once within your assignment. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the library or review library guides.
